Ruth Reichl and Laurie Bademosi Exposed! - The FDAs Blatant Failure on Food. The Essentials!
Ruth Reichl and Laurie Bademosi Exposed! - The FDA's Blatant Failure on Food. The Essentials! After reading Ruth Reichl's book, the FDA's Blatant Failure on Food. The Essentials, it's easy to understand why I sometimes wonder if this problem is not systemic. The authors argue that this is a problem at a 'nationally and even a universally at a novel level of influence. In other words, the financial interests of large food companies override the safety of the food we eat.' They point out that: 'First of all, they want to get away with their own fraudulent schemes. And second, they want to use their political power in Washington to protect their profits. In other words, even as the FDA regulates our food supply, the group itself uses the regulatory agencies and laws to protect their own legal thievery. But, according to these authors, the problem goes deeper than just one agency. Their evidence indicates that the 'federal regulatory structure as a whole has become so riddled with corruptio n and incompetence, that any reasonable person would conclude that the system is dysfunctional.'I was glad to see that there are now many independent government watchdog organizations. I hope more corporations to follow the lead of Kellogg's, which has stepped forward and said they are going to remove artificial colors and flavors from their cereals. They want to show that consumers are not being exploited by a regulatory system that has been corrupted by large corporations. The Feds' Blatant Failure on Food. The Essentials by Ruth Reichl and Laurie Bademosi should be required reading for anyone who is concerned about the quality of our food supply. Not only does it offer a plausible solution to the problems facing our food supply, but it also provides a new way to think about how we can start saving money and do our part in protecting the health of the world's population.I learned that the drug manufacturer's lawyer tried to stop their plan to implement a policy requiring mandatory pre-licensing audits of quality control procedures. He believes that such a policy would violate the intellectual property rights of the drug company.I think the drug company's lawyer is wrong and that he is in over his head. We need to save the world and we need to do it by taking responsibility for our actions. It is the job of each of us as citizens of a democracy to be the voice of the people and tell the drug company's lawyer and his cronies, 'Not so fast'. I look forward to the day when everyone will take responsibility for their actions and then there will be no need for the FDA's Blatant Failure on Food. The Essentials.
